Welcome Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 35th Singapore-Malaysia Joint Meeting in Ophthalmology in conjunction with the 1st Asia-Pacific Ocular Imaging Society Meeting, to be held in Singapore from 17 – 19 January 2020 at The Academia.

This meeting is jointly hosted by the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology and The Asia-Pacific Ocular Imaging Society (APOIS), a newly formed associate member society of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) set up to advance research and education of scientific knowledge relevant to ocular imaging, with a focus on common Asian ocular diseases.

We are facing a paradigm shift in the way we manage patients with new imaging modalities, therapeutic options and major technological advances such as artificial intelligence. This meeting, themed “Innovations in Ophthalmology, New… but Better’, will provide the general ophthalmologist an update on these latest innovations and provide insight on the real benefit they may or may not bring to our patients. Leading international and local imaging experts will also summarize the latest developments in research as well as application to clinical diseases in the anterior and posterior segments.

For the young ophthalmologists, there will a dedicated YO2020 symposium and case presentation session on debates focusing on the controversies and innovations in Ophthalmology: are our new technologies actually better? by global and local YO speakers.

In addition, Singapore has a host of new major tourist attractions such as Jewel, the National Gallery of Singapore, Gardens by the Bay and other attractions.

I look forward to welcoming you to our unique tropical island where you will not only get the opportunity to learn more about the latest innovations in ophthalmology, but also gain unforgettable memories of friendships made and renewed.

See you in Singapore in January 2020!

Sincerely yours,
Adj Assoc Prof Shu Yen LEE
